Financial Education
Veridian understands that financial education is key to an individual's promising future. Here are a few examples of our financial education commitments:
  • Saving with Mandy & Randy -- Veridian sponsors a financial education program designed for second grade students. Veridian staff also join students for in-class activities upon teacher's request. The program reached 3,015 students during the 2010-2011 school year. Request additional information or a financial education speaker for your classroom or group.
  • Making the Right Money Moves -- Veridian sponsors a financial education program designed for high school students. Veridian staff also join students for in-class activities upon teacher's request. The program reached 4,299 students during the 2010-2011 school year. Request additional information or a financial education speaker for your classroom or group.
  • Member Communication -- Our member communication tools provide financial information for such topics as how to protect from fraud, identity theft, security information, technology, etc.
  • Student Credit Union -- Veridian's unique partnership with Kittrell Elementary in Waterloo teaches young children the importance of saving money. Students make small weekly deposits to their own credit union, which they've named the Six Pillars Credit Union.
  • Partners in Education -- Veridian is the official Partner in Education with two Iowa elementary schools, Kittrell Elementary in Waterloo and Madison Elementary in Cedar Rapids. Veridian provides human and financial resources through supplemental learning and social activities.
  • Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) -- IDAs are special matched savings programs for persons with limited incomes.
  • Waterloo Housing Partnership -- A community partnership with the Operation Threshold program teaching low-income individuals about home ownership. Program participants can apply for a mortgage loan and be granted approval within the program criteria.
