A community event with one of the state's most extravagant and renowned fireworks displays has secured Veridian Credit Union as a presenting sponsor for 2010.
Boomtown is held in Vinton at the Benton County Fairgrounds in association with the Iowa Pyrotechnic Association's (IPA) annual meeting. While this will be the 4th Annual Boomtown, it is the first time this event has had a presenting sponsorship. To kick-off the partnership, a check presentation from Veridian will be held at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton on Thursday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m.
Boomtown will be held on Saturday, September 18 and the IPA will kick off the day with a pancake breakfast at 7:00 a.m. The day will include live entertainment, family-friendly activities and a grand celebration of fireworks. There will also be pyrotechnic demonstrations and competitions. The main attraction will begin at approximately 9:00 p.m. It will include thousands of shells lit into explosive colors, all synchronized to music and detonated via a computer-controlled launch sequence. The music for the event is also broadcast live over 93.5 FM.
Boomtown is the invention of the Iowa Pyrotechnic Association and Vinton Unlimited and is managed by a volunteer committee. More information about Boomtown can be found at www.vintonboomtown.com.
