- - - Candace McClatchey, a loan interviewer for Veridian Credit Union, received a 2010 Governor’s Volunteer Award from Iowa Governor Chet Culver. A ceremony was held on Thursday, July 22nd in Cedar Rapids, where McClatchey was recognized.
Created in 1982 for only state agencies, the Governor’s Volunteer Awards program has grown to its present function of providing all Iowa nonprofit, charitable, and government organizations with an easy and effective way to honor volunteers. Volunteers may be nominated for an award in one of several categories: Individual, Group, Length of Service, or Disaster Volunteer.
McClatchey, a Parkersburg native who currently resides in Waterloo, was nominated by Bonnie Sorenson with the Community Corrections Improvement Association. She was recognized in the Individual category for her work with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in Cedar Rapids.
