A leading cause of identity theft is "dumpster diving" where thieves rummage through your trash looking for confidential documents, credit card offers, or anything with personal information on it. To prevent this type of identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) advises that you always shred your charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks and account statements, expired charge cards that you're discarding, and credit offers you get in the mail. Join us on October 12 to clean out your filing cabinet for free!
