Can I open a youth or teen account for a minor?
Yes. Youth memberships are available for children age 12 and younger, while teen memberships are available for those ages 13-17. These accounts must be opened by phone, or by stopping in at a branch. The minor will be the primary owner of the account, but an adult must accompany the minor and register as a joint owner. The adult can also sign documents in place of the minor. You will need:
- The minor's Social Security number.
- Proof of the minor's identity, such as a government-issued photo ID, birth certificate or Social Security card.
- A government-issued photo ID to verify your identity.
