The votes are counted for Veridian Gives Back - Waukee, a cooperative giving campaign launched in celebration of our new branch at 655 E. Hickman Road in Waukee. Eight organizations were nominated by credit union staff, and votes were accepted from the public April 1-7 to select three donation recipients.
Nominated organizations included Dallas County Habitat for Humanity, Raccoon River Valley Trail Association, Waukee Area Arts Council, Waukee Area Historical Society, Waukee Betterment Foundation, Waukee Community Closet, Waukee Family YMCA and Waukee Public Library Friends Foundation. Votes were counted, and donation recipients were notified on April 8:
- Waukee Public Library Friends Foundation (826 votes) will receive $500.
- Waukee Community Closet (2,162 votes) will receive $1,000.
- Waukee YMCA (2,190 votes) will receive $2,500.
“We’re celebrating our new branch in a way that aligns with our credit union’s values,” said Tim Lord, Waukee Branch Manager. “One of our priorities in a new community is to build partnerships and find ways to contribute. Veridian Gives Back allows us to include input from our new neighbors in that effort.”
Donations will be presented at a ribbon cutting event for the new branch on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m. The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
